The concept leans directly into the Coachella Valley's identity as the "date capital of the world," pulling from the local date farms that shaped the region's agricultural history, then layering that against a California-Italian menu that runs through fresh pastas, a 14-ounce Prime New York strip with gorgonzola, and a sticky date cake finished with caramel walnuts and mascarpone.
Practical details for residents: Double Date serves dinner daily from 5 to 10 p.m., and the plaza outside runs live entertainment five nights a week, Wednesday through Sunday. The room was built to work for both hotel guests and locals, which matters if you're picking a place a spouse's cousin will actually enjoy in July without a reservation two weeks out.
The bigger structural change is happening a few miles east. On the Mark, the Palm Springs market and eatery, is opening a second location at the new Cotino town center in Rancho Mirage, with a footprint more than twice the size of its Palm Springs store, room to sit down and eat, and plans to sell both produce and meat. The owners are targeting a fall 2026 opening.
For residents, that's the first real grocery-plus-restaurant hybrid attached to Cotino, and it changes the calculus on quick weeknight dinners in the Thousand Palms Canyon Road corridor. Worth watching between now and fall.
Breakfast has been the thin spot on the Rancho Mirage bench for a long time. Keke's Breakfast Cafe is expected to open a Rancho Mirage Marketplace location in 2026, bringing the chain's pancakes, stuffed French toast, omelets, and paninis to the corner of Bob Hope and Highway 111. The franchise owner has not committed to a specific date, telling reporters the restaurant can open any day now.
If you already have a Saturday-morning routine at one of the existing spots, this isn't a replacement so much as a release valve for the weeks when the wait list at your usual place turns into a forty-minute stand.

Taste of Summer Rancho Mirage runs from Thursday, July 23 through August 16, 2026, and this year's edition brings together roughly 30 local restaurants and 40 nonprofit organizations. Wristbands are sold through the participating nonprofits, and holders use them to unlock the special offers at each restaurant. The nonprofit keeps the wristband revenue. The restaurant gets a room full of locals during the slowest four weeks of its year.

The River, at 71800 Highway 111, is still the density point for casual dining in Rancho Mirage, but the lineup there has quietly shifted. Fleming's Steakhouse, which opened at The River in November 2001 when the shopping area first debuted, has permanently closed and taken down its website. That's a significant loss on the top end of the center's restaurant mix, and it leaves an obvious hole for whichever concept lands in that footprint next.
Yard House at Space B-101 remains, as do the coffee and casual anchors. Ben & Jerry's is running its wristband special. The practical read for summer is that The River is still the right call for a walk-and-graze evening with visiting family, but the fine-dining slot at the center has moved. Right now, for a steak in Rancho Mirage without leaving the city limits, Double Date at the Omni is the current default.
